What service(s) does LibréTel provide?

LibréTel will provide an array of services to complement your existing telephone and other real time communications.

Our initial service is a simple but powerful call forwarding from your own exclusive number to any IP phone anywhere on the planet.  Get local dial-tone from anywhere and have anyone reach you - wherever you are.

Dial locally, call globally™

What do I need to use the service(s)?

For most of the LibréTel services all you need is a SIP-based VoIP phone.  You can get one from free service providers such as Free World Dialup or commercial for-fee providers.  It may be either a software application you run on your computer or a dedicated phone 'device'

If you have a working VoIP phone (which typically implies a broadband Internet connection) you are all ready.  A test call on a network such as Free World Dialup will confirm that you are ready.

A web-browser to manage your account and valid payment information and you are ready to take advantage of all that LibréTel has to offer.

What does the service(s) cost?

LibréTel will have an array of services, the costs vary with the types that you purchase, you can mix and match within your account.

In general there is a one-time setup fee, with a recurring charge for the service(s).  Discounts are given for longer commitments (Annual).

Initially the PortofCall(sm) provides Direct Inward Dialing (DID) service from ANY phone on the planet to your VoIP phone.  There are no minutes charges to you whatsoever, and your caller only pays what they would for any other call (the same as any other local call assuming they are calling from the same area as the DID number).

The specifics of the fees are listed in our product of the web-site.  We strive to give the best value and as such offer breaks for different features and areas of the globe.

Does LibréTel operate its own phone network?

LibréTel has servers and other equipment located in many geographic locations which provide our collection of network services, but we do not operate our own traditional PSTN network.

Through our infrastructure and relationships, we do provide connectivity to any phone network that is readily callable.

Where do I get a VoIP phone number?

There are many providers that supply VoIP numbers and other rich services to go along with them - one of our favorites is Free World Dialup.  You may find other service which charge for this, there are many options.  We expect to be providing LibréTel.com numbers in the near future along with a set of benefits and reliability - also free!

Can I transfer my existing phone company number to LibréTel?

No,  we are not a 'primary' line replacement and do not currently support number portability.

Can I keep my current VoIP phones/accounts?

Yes, we can forward to many SIP-based providers and are always adding more.  The advantage to using open, standards-based systems is this interoperability.

Can I replace my existing phones?

The services that LibréTel provides are not intended to replace but rather compliment your other phones whether they are IP, mobile, or PSTN.

Do the people that I call,  or call me -  need to have LibréTel services also?

Absolutely not, LibréTel services are entirely invisible to your callers whether they are calling from a mobile, wired, or IP phone.

Where can I use your service(s)?

Without a doubt, since LibréTel service will work anywhere you have access to a high-speed Internet connection. Don’t forget to tell people you see while traveling about your LibréTel service, all of the LibréTel advantages, and how they can easily get LibreTel service anywhere in the world.

What Countries or Area codes do you have available?

LibréTel has a constantly growing list of DID numbers that you can purchase - the current availability is always up to date on our product pages after logging in.  If you don't see what you need, we'll make every effort to get it - there is a convenient form to make requests.

You can purchase and use these numbers from anywhere on Earth.   If you live in Basarabeasca and you would like to have a phone in New York, no problem - just sign up, pick your number and forward it to your IP phone.  Friends can call you from Long Island and ring you half-way around the globe.

Can I use multiple phones with my account?

You may use as many phones with your account as you like.  For each DID number you may only forward to one URI at a time.  This is easily update on the accounts page and is activated immediately.

What happens to my service(s) if I travel or move?

The PortofCall(sm) service is not tied to any location.  Wherever your forwarding is pointed, we'll get there.

If your forwarded location is offline or unavailable when a call is made to your exclusive DID number normal 'no-answer' handling will occur.  For example if you have voicemail associated with your VoIP phone then the caller will be able to leave a message.

If you change VoIP phones or simply want to change the forwarding as a result of a physical move  simply login to your account and make the update, it is active right away.

Can I change or transfer my phone number?

The PortofCall(sm)OfCall phone numbers are not transferable.  You can purchase as many as you would like, and may cancel previously purchased numbers. We do not provide the ability to simply 'switch' from one number to another.

Note that cancellation of numbers is bound by the guidelines in the Terms and Conditions.

How do people call me from International locations?

People call your PortOfCall number just as if they called any other phone number anywhere on Earth.  Depending on where they're calling from and where your number(s) are, country codes and other international prefixes may be required.

If the caller is local to where your number is, they simply call as if they're calling any other number down the street.

In all cases, the caller is responsible for any charges that would normally apply.

How many phone numbers can I purchase?

You can buy as many as you like and forward them all to the same location or to different locations.   These number may be from different places on the globe or many numbers from the same geographic area.

What happens if I'm on the phone when someone calls?

If you are on your VoIP phone when someone calls your PortofCall(sm) number the forwarding will still occur and the 'normal' call handling will occur as if someone had called your VoIP phone directly.

Can I forward to multiple phones at the same time?

The PortofCall(sm) service can forward to a VoIP phone number.  This number may actually represent multiple 'registrations' of a phone.  If the service provider that hosts your phone provides this functionality - then all the phones will ring at the same time.  Free World Dialup does support this.

This is not the same thing has having different phones associated with the DID number concurrently.

There may be limitation on the number of calls that can occur in parallel to the same DID number.

Will my number be published in a telephone book?

Currently there is no book of DID phone numbers.  At some point, LibréTel may provide a listing of these numbers so that callers can find you.  Any case you will always be given the option to opt-out of this listing.

Where can I forward my DID number to?

The PortofCall(sm) service initially allows for forwarding to a number of SIP-based networks.  A drop-down list is provided when you set up your forwarding.

We expect to be able to forward to _any_ phone in the future.
